Trustee work
Stephen has been involved in work as a trustee with two charities working directly with young people. abandofbrothers is a charity established by men committed to positive social change through personal development and community building. abandofbrothers supports young men in making a healthy transition to adult manhood and creates powerful mentoring networks that they can call upon in times of need. Stephen has also been a volunteer for over 10 years, staffing mentoring and training weekends, sitting in weekly local circles. He was a trustee from 2010-2019.
Immediate Theatre works with young people throughout Hackney and East London. see a short video here. Taking drama onto estates as well as schools, Immediate Theatre works with and for marginalised youth through inclusion, interactivity and imagination. It believes in the transformative power of theatre and the arts to all our lives and the importance of giving people a voice. Creating a real relationship with the communities in which it works is at the heart of what it does. Going from strength to strength, Immediate Theatre recently celebrated 25 years of working with young people in Hackney.
